Driving and listening to the radio

I was driving listen to the radio while I got these talking among professor Vaughan and several learners.

When the rose roses, it rises
There is a bridge to raise before you can go into the castle.
When you speak face to face,.... (I can't remember how it continues)

I find the use of the verb rise a little confusing, so I was pleased hearing about how to use it.

She speaks low and gravely. Do you think she has a sexy voice? She is entirely sexy.
When I make a bet she always wins but I've never won. Do you think I win some day?
I never won.
By the way, how much money have you spent in lottery tickets in your life?

Good question I thought. In my case very little money I think.

I read the report but I haven't read the annexes.

Now questions with ever been which I master them, I am sure it is good to repeat and repeat.

Have you ever been to Istanbul?
Have you ever heard of Attila? Have you ever heard of Viriatos?
Who is Larry Pein? (Probably I misunderstood the name) A friend of mine.

He united Germany. He brought them together. He defeated the Austrians. He created Germany.
(I couldn't caught who were them talking about)
Did he die in the nineteen century? Was he still in power when he died?
Did you know him personally?
Did Franco died before you were born? Yes he did.
I was born in 1997.
Was were you doing the year he was born?
Good way to practise questions, speaking to yourself, I think
45 hours a week.
How old were you when you get married? I was 37. And you? I haven't got married yet.
Have you got a girlfriend?
Do you prefer to play the field? You have all the options and you don't want  to commit to any.
Does she has a boyfriend now?
Does she ever have gone on a formal date? She is a heart breaker. She's 18.

At my desk I write down what I have heard on the radio and I get involved and so on until I do with the grammar in use.
